PHOENIX – SEPTEMBER 17, 2013 – Univision News announced that award-winning journalist Heidi Renpenning has joined Univision Arizona as lead anchor for its evening and late-night newscasts for the Phoenix and Tucson markets.

Renpenning, who will be based in Phoenix, Arizona, joins the anchor team of Sergio Urquidi and Felipe Corral. Her start date is October 7. “Noticias Univision Arizona” (“Univision News Arizona”) led by News Director Juan Villa, has consistently ranked as the highest rated newscast in the Phoenix market, regardless of language. The “Noticias Univision Arizona” news team has been among the recipients of several high-profile awards, including the Emmy’s©, Gracie Allen Awards, Edward R. Murrow and NAPTA Awards, among other prestigious journalism awards.

A celebrated news professional with more than 14 years of experience in broadcast journalism in Mexico and the United States, Renpenning was most recently the Weekend Lead Anchor for KINT-TV Univision 26 newscast in El Paso, Texas. Previously, she was a News Anchor for the nightly evening newscast at XEJ-TV Canal 5 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Entertainment Television Show Host for PROMUS Communications in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua and On-Air personality for KTEP-FM National Public Radio in El Paso, Texas.

Renpenning has been recognized by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters for Continuing Coverage and has been nominated for an Emmy. A native of Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, she holds a Bachelor degree in Science of Arts in Electronic Media from the University of Texas at El Paso.
